Basic Cogo+ Pac

Cogo+ PacWritten with the Student Engineer, Surveyor or Architect in mind, the Basic Cogo+ Pac has all of the programming for Coordinate Geometry as it is taught in the required basic college course on Coordinate Geometry, plus Pre-determined Areas and Rotation/Translation, as well as a number of specialty programs for circular curves, triangle solutions, vertical solutions, spiral curve solutions, and programs for End-Area and Pit Volumes. 

The programming also includes a complete coordinate file system, keys for working directly in Degrees, minutes and seconds for calculations, special keys for adding bearings and angles or getting the angle between two bearings.  The only programs not in this programming that were in the original HP Surveying Pac for the HP41 calculators (considered the baseline for surveying) are Transit Adjustment (now obsolete) and Resection.  The latter was left out of this pac because this set of programs is meant for school or office use, and doesn't contain specific programming for field work.  A more in-depth description of the programming is shown below:

Triangle Solutions

A really advanced Triangle Solution program that includes all of the normal 'knowns' (the usual Side Angle Side, etc.) solutions plus three more where the area is one of the 'knowns'.

All of the input is internally sorted, so you don't have to go to a particular routine first. If the known part is a side, input the value and stroke the softkey under 'SIDE', for an angle stroke the softkey under 'ANGLE', or for an area stroke the 'AREA' softkey.

The program also allows for a second solution for those cases where there may be one (Side, Side, angle and Area, Side, Side)

All menu-driven and with additional options. The number of decimal places in all output could have been set to the user's specification in the program "Parameters' (PARA).


Vertical Solutions

The group of vertical curve programs, includes a 'quick' program to use when you need to solve a few elevations along a curve or grade You can calculate the station if the elevation is known and auto-outputs High/Low point as part of the curve data

The Vertical Alignment program handles the alignment continuously, solves either symmetrical or asymmetrical vertical curves as well as grades and grade breaks, without the need to go in and out of the program between curves and grades. Permits calculating of continuous alignments, with all of the bells and whistles, allows continuous output, using constants for stationing intervals and let's you add any oddball stationing that's encountered along the way. You can stake all of the curb & gutter, including the stations at curb cuts, light poles, handicap ramps, etc. at one time. All output is in the order of the stationing.

There’s a program for solving vertical intersection problems. Simple input, with fast answers when the beginning and ending station/elevations are known and the grades are known. The output is the station and elevation at the point of vertical intersection.

Finally, we included a program that calculates vertical curves to fit conditions where the grades are known, but a specific elevation has to be held at a known station/elevation.


Circular Curve Solutions

You can calculate a circular curve with just the input of any two parts, as long as the first input is either the central angle (Δ), the radius or the degree of curvature. For example:

The second part could have been the length, chord, the tangent distance, external or mid-ordinate. The solution will look like the display to the right.

You can also calculate the different solutions for the curve to be laid out by four different methods. Simply input the B.C. station and then the station you want the solution for:

Additional stations may be calculated by input of the next
station and again stroking the "STA" softkey.

Curve Solution(2) There are other circular curve solutions included in the programming too. These are included, even though their names include the word "stakeout", because they can be used to calculate sub-chords and arc angles for fractional parts of a curve, once the total curve data is known. Another handy thing for office use. All of the information calculated in any of our programs will also be simultaneously printed out to an InfraRed printer if you have the calculator set to "print on" in the parameters program.
